It's not about becoming a producer; it is about writing for a producer. Let's get you started on the right track: Will A Producer think your writing is ready for production? OR... Will you get the dreaded "PASS" only because of your formatting is confusing or your style holds your story back?
Your Writing is Ready for Submission When it Can Be Tagged by a Line Producer
15 minutes is enough time to expose a knowledge gap in a person's intellect. This means that you realize "what you don't know." If you are a motivated and willing subject, the 15 minute script session will expand your vision for your writing. We all must knock down barriers we are unaware of until they face us. Educators call this a Learning Curve. Successful people make every attempt to reduce the Learning Curve in their time management. Harvard Business Review
Several studies have shown that 15 minutes of concentration increased students' and entrepreneurs' focus to achieve their goals on test taking, performance, and goal achievement.
Metacognition - the practice of thinking about thinking- this is what I do for you. I want you to think differently about your writing when we are finished, for your benefit.
Make a definitive decision regarding your definition of success. If you don't know it yet, that's fine, but at some point, you will need to decide the future of the Intellectual Property you have created. Unless you write only for cathartic reasons, learning the business journey is in your best interest. Creating a script that has the potential to be turned into a viable film or TV series is as essential as the story you are telling. You must make your script Production Ready.
Expectation Management - Are your writing goals realistic? Where do you want to finish? And what are the benchmarks that lead you to these goals? Set your expectations as soon as possible. Invest in your education and be honest with yourself about the process and your goals. Be willing to change, and learn to say no when the boundaries do not fit within your goals and limits.
Why? It takes a team, but the leader of the team is YOU. You have to be 100% competent because you make the decisions. If you fail in your responsibility, especially for lack of trying, a team of experts cannot help you to evolve towards your goals. This is why the process starts with "I", "I am willing to do what it takes." When you have completed the task of presenting a well-written, coherent script, ready for a Line Producer, you can bring on the team.
I'm not a script coach. I'm a brain coach. What kind of writer do you want to be? A marshmallow or a maverick? The writing world isn't easy, or kind; you have to be exceptional. I coach writer's the same way I coached athletes at the Olympic Training Center -- for results! It isn't just about your writing; it's your attitude about your project. A writer's mission is to create a great story BUT, more importantly, to create a project that can be developed and produced into a profitable venture. Is that your goal? That's mine - and it takes the mindset of a "maverick" - an independent thinker. Soon, that's you too. And brace yourself - you need to hear the cold hard truth to understand what your project "Can Be." Write Beyond - get your project ready for production. I'll show you how.
Fifteen minutes is enough time to enhance your wring skills and give you the potential to move your script to the next level. You must be an ambassador of your writing and become an entrepreneur in the business of "your" writing and brand. Fifteen minutes is your reboot, which creates the point of a new heightened and sharpened focus. The first fifteen minutes of your session I do a live reactionary read. Have you ever put a book down? As with anything read, the beginning is the most critical aspect of comprehension, vision, interest, and excitement. A script is a "read" - not your film. Your entrepreneurial responsibility is to create a script that transfers words into a visual format for film or TV. If you cannot clearly portray your innovation and inspiration to an executive within fifteen minutes, or likely less, you have a slim chance of moving forward to the next step. Don't assume that an exec will move beyond anything less than excellence.

USE DIVERSITY WHEREVER GENUINE
As a test, remove your passion. Be genuine, plausible, reasonable, and intentioned with storylines and characters.
HAVE A FORMULA
Here's my formula. Take any character, or A/B/C storyline, and put them into the formula. Then divide by your target # of pages.
NO ONE DOES THIS ALONE!
Let others read. Take advice from people who have your betterment in mind and have travelled the journey themselves.
THERE ARE DIFFERENT TYPES OF SCREEN CONSULTANTS
UNLESS GRANDMA IS AN A-LISTER, SHE PROBABLY CAN'T HELP YOU
Friends make willing bait, but you will face the criticism of the pros.
